US and Idaho News Priority for Windows, version 1.0.0

START
Extract the whole zip to a folder (do not run it from inside the zip viewer), open the NewsPriority folder and double-click NewsPriority.exe.
Windows SmartScreen may warn because the program is not code-signed. Click More info, then Run anyway.
If Windows blocks the extracted files, open PowerShell in the folder and run: Get-ChildItem -Recurse | Unblock-File

USE
Pick a state (Idaho is the default), a time window and the searches you want, then press the big search button.
Nothing runs until you press it. Ticking a box only chooses what the next search includes.
Stories link to their original publishers and open in your normal browser.

YOUR API KEY (optional)
The AI ranking, grouping and writing uses your own Anthropic account.
  1. Get a key at console.anthropic.com.
  2. In the app choose Settings, then API key and model.
  3. Paste the key, press Test key, then Save.
The key is kept in Windows Credential Manager for your Windows account. It is sent only to api.anthropic.com.
Each AI run is billed to your Anthropic account. Without a key the app still searches and ranks by keywords.

WHAT IT NEEDS
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, an internet connection, and the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime (already on current Windows 10 and 11).
About 80 MB of disk space. Your saved lists and cache are kept in %LOCALAPPDATA%\NewsPriority.
The built-in news engine listens on 127.0.0.1 (your own computer) only.

REMOVE
Delete the program folder. To also remove your settings and cache, delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\NewsPriority yourself. In the AI app, use Settings to remove the saved key first.
